The Blues cruise pass Stokes City 2-0 to advance into the semi-finals. Goals from Frank Lampard and John Terry sank the stubborn Stoke side. After two successive defeats, Chelsea returned to top form to crush Stoke.
In the 35th minute, Lampard gave Chelsea the lead. A corner is awarded to Chelsea after Robert Huth put the ball behind. The resulting corner finds Terry, who tees up Lampard. Then, Lampard drove a 20-yard shot into the net, following a deflection by Sidibe. 1-0 in favour of Chelsea.
Chelsea dominated most of the match and had a significant number of efforts on goal. In the 68th minute, Terry headed a corner from Lampard into the net, giving Chelsea a 2 goal cushion over Stoke. After scoring the goal, Terry ran towards the Stoke supporters and pulled up his sleeve, showing his captain's armband. Terry had recently been stripped of the captain's armband and the Stoke City fans were taunting him for most of the match and he clearly wanted to demonstrate that.
The match ended 2-0, in favour of Chelsea.
