Dear diary,
Today, I finally found out the cruelty and unfairness in the Maycomb Society, the society which I am in. Today, I found out that prejudice is present in this society. I am sad to say that this society judges people by their colour, not by their personality, or the words they say.
Today is the day of the verdict for the trial. The witnesses, Mayella and Bob Ewell, had said their parts of the story. However, the suspect, Tom Robinson, who was a black American, contradicts them with his side of the whole incident. My father, Atticus, already uncovered the truth. He dug deep into the evidences and revealed that Tom Robinson was innocent. The truth was right in front of everyone’s’ face.
However, as I said, the society of Maycomb judges people by their skin colour. Thus, when Tom Robinson was accused of the crime, his faith was sealed. Even though evidences stand at his side, he still stands no chance of fighting for his rights.
Thus, a innocent, black American, is found guilty for something he has not done, and this really disgust and upsets me. Why does the society and people of Maycomb be so cruel? This is how it is here. And today, at the court room, where justice supposedly could be found, I finally found out the cruel truth of the Maycomb society.
Yours sincerely,
Jem Finch

I feel that this post is well-written, as you went on to talk about the Tom Robinson's trial, which only happens later in the story. You also discuss about the people in Maycomb who only judge people by their skin color. I also agree with you, the irony of finding prejudice in a place where a person is supposed to find justice.
